Buying used excavators and diggers
Excavators and diggers handle drainage, irrigation trenching, bunker and pond work and general construction. Micro and mini diggers are the most common on courses, as they fit through gates and do less damage to turf, especially on rubber tracks.
Check engine hours and service history, then the undercarriage: tracks, rollers, idlers and sprockets are expensive to replace. Look at the pins and bushes on the boom, dipper and bucket for play, the hydraulic rams and hoses for leaks, and the slew ring. Ask which buckets and whether a quick hitch are included.
Kubota is a common make of mini digger. Use the year and engine hours filters to compare machines, and ask the dealer for photos of the tracks and undercarriage.
