Buying used rotary mowers
Rotary mowers cover a wide range: pedestrian mowers for small areas, out-front and zero-turn ride-ons for amenity grass, and large multi-deck machines for rough and open ground. They tolerate longer and wetter grass better than cylinder mowers.
Check the deck for cracks, corrosion and welded repairs, and ask about the blades and spindle bearings, which wear and get replaced. On ride-ons, look at engine hours, service history, drive belts, the PTO and any hydraulic lines. Collector models need the fan, chute and grass box checked too.
