Buying used sprayers
Turf sprayers apply fertiliser, wetting agents and plant protection products accurately, so condition and calibration matter. Options include self-propelled dedicated sprayers, units mounted on a utility vehicle, and tractor-mounted or trailed booms.
Check the spray tank for cracks, staining and residue, and ask what it was last used for and how it was cleaned. Look at the pump, filters, hoses, nozzles and boom folding and breakaway sections. A rate controller or GPS section control adds value if it works. On self-propelled units, check engine hours and tyres.
Anyone applying plant protection products must hold the right qualifications, and sprayers need regular testing, so ask for the latest test certificate. Common makes include Toro and John Deere. Filter by year and engine hours, and ask the dealer for the service history.
