Buying used spreaders
Spreaders apply fertiliser, seed and granular products. Pedestrian rotary and drop spreaders suit greens and small areas, while tractor-mounted and trailed spinner spreaders cover larger ground quickly.
Fertiliser is corrosive, so check the hopper, spinner discs, vanes and agitator carefully for rust and wear. Make sure the rate gate opens and closes smoothly and the settings are readable. On mounted units, check the gearbox, PTO shaft and frame. On pedestrian models, check the wheels and gearbox.
An even spread pattern matters, so ask whether the machine has been calibrated and whether a manual or setting chart comes with it. Filter by year to narrow the list, and contact the dealer directly for details.
